The "Umweltprofis" are a non-profit network whose members are public institutions who offer service in the field of sustainable solid waste management for the citiziens of Upper Austria and consits the "BAVs"and the "LAV" of Upper Austria.

The "BAVs" are responsible for the municipal solid waste management in the province of Upper Austria, i.e. for each of the 15 administrative districts of Upper Austria and the three bigger cities "Linz", "Wels" and "Steyr" has its own "BAV". Whereas the "LAV" represents the interesests of all BAVs on the level of provinces since 1993. Its office is in Linz. The "LAV" also conducts province-wide PR campaigns to motivate for waste separation and waste prevention.
